Lorgues is a medieval village of pretty alleyways and squares, located at the heart of Provence, in an undulating landscape covered with pines, olive trees and vines. Its history goes back to 1421 and the foundation of the Collegiale Saint Martin, one of Provence’s great churches. This was later joined by several convents and other religious establishments. One was formerly the summer residence of the bishop of Frejus, and is now the Villa de Lorgues.
Situated in the middle of the village, the house has been completely renovated but in a style that respects the spirit of the 18th century, using traditional materials and dimensions. The elegant library opens onto a pleasant shaded terrace and a lovely garden, which resembles gardens in Tuscany. Upstairs, the sumptuous bedrooms and bathrooms have a calming ambiance. The guests can also use the lounge, library and reception rooms. Hearty breakfasts are served either on the terrace or in the traditional Provencal kitchen.
